Twin Scotches in Twin Peaks

With the recent announcement that Twin Peaks will be making a return, it's high time we brought you this clip from waaaaay back in season 1. In this scene, Ben Horne's brother Jerry orders two double scotch on the rocks at One Eyed Jack's.  I can't believe that this show is actually coming back.  I got so excited when I heard the news that I actually started watching the whole series again from the beginning.  The entire Twin Peaks Mystery has been released in this Blu-ray box set.  So do yourself a favor...

Seriously.  If I ever start talking like this guy you have permission to throw my *scotch & soda in my face.  This clip is from season 4 episode 4.  Jess starts dating a guy who is terrible...just terrible but she's made a bet and has to keep the relationship going for a month regardless of his shortcomings.

Here is the first of what will hopefully be many scotch sightings from the fantastic new TV series Forever on ABC.  There have been dozens of Macallan appearances on this site throughout the years but the 25 year old has only reared its head twice before now.  Check out the two previous posts here and here.

The man has good taste.
In this brief scene from The Wolverine, Logan (Hugh Jackman) can be be seen drinking a glass of Hibiki 17 to calm his nerves during a rather bumpy flight.

Buffalo Trace is NOT Scotch

After watching the movie Loosies and doing a little bit of research for this post, I noticed a few things that were rather odd.  The film goes by a completely different title is some foreign markets.  For some reason it was released with the title "Run or Die." The stars also had guns badly photoshopped into their hands on the alternate poster.  But the strangest thing about this film is the fact that when the main character asks for a scotch he proceeds to share a bottle of Buffalo Trace bourbon instead.  Not cool.

Shout out to Whisky Throttle for providing us with this sighting.

My favorite whisky vlogger reviews my favorite single malt (under $60) in his latest video.  Ralfy's explanation of the double maturation process was as informative as it was interesting.  Check out some of his other great videos on his youtube channel.

Here's the fourth scotch sighting from the latest (greatest?) season of the Showtime series Homeland.  I've added the previous sightings below as well because I'm a super nice guy and I have a huge heart.

Whiskey Wedge

Cold whiskey is good. Watered down whiskey is not. The Whiskey Wedge helps you achieve the former while avoiding the latter. The trick is in the special silicone mold. You simply pour water into the included double old fashioned glass, insert the mold, and freeze. Thanks to the ice's wedge shape, it melts far more slowly than a typical cube thanks to the limited surface area in contact with the drink, meaning your whiskey gets nice and chilled but keeps its integrity to the last drop.

The above video contains a minor spoiler.

Now that Dawn of the Planet of the Apes has been released on Blu-ray we can finally bring you the first Johnnie Walker Blue Label sighting in nearly 2.5 years.  This also marks the first time we've seen an ape drink scotch.

It only took 4 years but I finally go around to posting the lightning fast clip of Highland Park and Black Grouse from Christopher Nolan's 2010 movie Inception.  I guess this scene was put on the back burner for so long because the sighting is so brief.  Don't blink.

Here's a short clip from a much longer sketch at the beginning of the latest SNL episode.  President Obama (Jay Pharoah) and Mitch McConnell (Taran Killam) split a bottle of Woodford Reserve Kentucky Bourbon while discussing the democrat's awful defeat in the recent midterm elections.

Did Anyone Notice the Chivas Sighting in "The Interview"?

Loved loved loved this movie.  I'm somewhat surprised that none of our followers on Twidda sent this clip along sooner.  Hope you all get a chance to watch The Interview since it's already available online thanks to Sony pictures.  If you prefer to see it on the big screen, you might have some trouble finding one that isn't run by cowards.  Best of luck!

Kind of hard to spot the year on the bottle but it looks to be the standard 12 year.

Happy New Year! Here's Ralfy's Best Whisky of 2014

Here's Ralfy's favorite malt of 2015 and once again, I'm inclined to agree with the man.  Not only when it comes to his taste in spirits but also with respect to his stance on quality and transparency.  In his latest vlog Ralfy makes a strong case for the boycotting of non-age statement scotch.  I've been saying this for a few years now and in 2015 I plan to put my money where my mouth is.

Did You Spot the Scotch In 'Better Call Saul'?

Did you miss us?  Well we missed you too!  And what better way to bring back the scotchiness than with a dose of criminal lawyer (criminal/lawyer) Saul Goodman?  This clip is from the very first scene of the first episode of Better Call Saul where we find Cinnabon manager Jimmy McGill concocting a poorly measured mix of Dewar's and Drambuie.  Nice to see that the scotch sightings have carried over from Breaking Bad to this amazing new spinoff series.  I've watched the first four episodes and I already love the direction in which this show is heading.   Even if you weren't a die hard Breaking Bad fan you should still give your old pal Saul a chance.

The First Non-Macallan Scotch Sighting From 'Suits'

It's been exactly 2 years since our last clip from the USA network series Suits and this one is rather strange.  First of all, the video is a little long because this particular scotch is referenced several times through out this episode.  Also its a fake.  That's right, you're probably not the least bit surprised to learn that there's no such thing as a $12,000 Mactasker.  Although they do make it seem like an absolutely delicious single malt.  This scene is from season 3 episode 12 entitled "Yesterday's Gone".

The First Scotch Sighting from NBC's "The Blacklist"

Here's a quick glimpse of yet another mystery malt.  This one is from season 2 episode 12 of The Blacklist.  Many of these fake scotches are difficult to spot on screen and this is no accident.  Movies and TV shows strive for as much realism as possible without getting sued so it makes sense that they'd refer to the region or the age without mentioning a brand.  The actor in this scene simply refers to it as a "highland" scotch, but the fuzzy screenshot below reveals the name to be "Glen Dochart".
