Here's a quickie which y'all might've missed. It's a brief Red Label mention from the beginning of the 2005 "King Kong" remake. We see the actual crate of Red Label at around the 20 minute mark in the film. How many remakes/reboots of this thing are we going to get by the time this whole fiasco is said and done? Never mind

Stop whatever it is you are doing. Put down the bong, climb out of the tub, remove the Oculus Rift, and watch this movie immediately. If you are a fan of other films like "The Wold of Wall Street", "The Hangover", "Scarface", or even "Three Kings", then "War Dogs" is right up your alley. The Chivas appearance was merely the icing on the cake for fans of malts and movies.
Any spoilers have been edited out. Promise! This scene features Bradley Cooper and Miles Teller having a rather intense discussion in a luxury Miami high-rise apartment. Enjoy the short clip and don't forget to keep sending in more awesomeness like this.

Now here's one you probably didn't see coming. This clip is from the 2007 Simpsons Movie. I haven't seen the movie in a while, but if I remember correctly, a bunch of wacky stuff happens and Homer causes some kind of situation or makes some trouble for his family and everything gets resolved at the end. Or something like that. The Red Label sighting takes place at the 40 minute mark in the movie when bart raids the mini bar in the family's seedy motel room.

This one was too great not to share. Andrew Dice Clay was on the January 19th episode of "Conan" and he told a few stories (in his usual style) that were so ridiculous that O'Brien needed some liquid strength to help him deal. This is a heavily edited clip but the entire interview is embedded below.
Scarlett Johansson Talks Scotch With LettermanIt's always great to watch Dice mix it up with talk show hosts and I'm loving the career resurgence he's been having in the last few years. Who would've though he'd have his own series and be appearing in Woody Allen films after the rollercoaster of a career he's had? It might be time to dig out some of his old comedy specials.

Believe it or not, this is actually the sixthLagavulin sighting from "Parks & Recreation". Ron Swanson (Nick Offerman) has been a goldmine for SC over the years and this fantastic series has been greatly missed since it went off the air. The scene takes place at the 18 minute mark in season 5 episode 14. It has been rumoured that there is one last sighting out there but it still has yet to be found. Keep sending your tips via email, twitter, Facebook, or by leaving a comment below.

Over the years we've seen fake Glenlivets, fake Lagavulins, and dozens of fake Macallans, but this is definitely the first appearance of a fake Cutty Sark to show up on screen. The name on the bottle is "Mindon Scotch" but the distinct yellow label and the iconic tall ship are unmistakable. You might find the name rather hard to read in this clip from season 1 episode 19. Not to worry, our next post features a much closer and more detailed shot of a crate of Mindon.

This clip featuring a crate of Mindon Scotch (aka Fake Cutty Sark) is from season 2 episode 3. We get a much better look at the label and logo in this scene than in the previous post. Keep sending in these "Arrow" sightings and I'll keep postin' em!

Scotch Cinema will be featuring a different scotch each month as a way for eagle-eyed visitors like yourself to catch up on some of the clips you might have missed over the past 6 years. We're kicking it off with Macallan since it is a personal favourite and has always been good to us. There will still be regular posts of all different kinds throughout the month, but we will feature a Macalln sighting each weekday until March.
It is always great to see a Macallan sighting in a movie and fortunately this delicious Speyside single malt has been popping up more and more as of late. This clip takes place at the 1:19 mark in the film when Tony Mendez (Affleck) snatches a bottle from the Canadian ambassador's house. He has a big decision to make and needs some liquid courage to help him do the right thing. Always works for me.
I've added some alternate artwork below. Including the original fake CIA production poster used during the mission.

Yet another great sighting from the Netflix original series "House of Cards". This scene featuring a $40,000 bottle of Macallan is from the 5th episode of season 2. Some of you may remember a 1926 Macallan selling for $54,000 a few years back. Watch the video and try not to cry when you see what happens. I'd be devastated if someone treated my 12 year Macallan like this.

Sorry for being a day late with this one. Only 24 hours in a day and we needed an extra hour to get this bad boy posted. So, like, 25 hours.
"The 25th Hour" stars Ed Norton as Monty Brogan, an ex-drug dealer who is trying to enjoy his last night of freedom before going to prison for 7 years.
Monty's friends, Frank (Barry Pepper) and Jacob (Philip Seymore Hoffman) decide to take him out for a night on the town in order to help him forget his troubles.
The nightclub scene is actually 34 minutes long. Not to worry though. We've cut it down to the most important 57 seconds which of course is the Macallan 18 sighting. Check out the clip above which takes place at the 1:10:30 mark in the film.

Here the latest Lagavulin sighting from the astounding Syfy series "The Expanse". It's great to see that this series was picked up for another season. The show itself (created by the collaborative team known as James S.A. Corey) has a bit of a Philip K. Dick-esque "Bladerunner" meets "The Fifth Element" vibe that any true Sci-Fi fan would love to binge. This clip featuring Lagavulin is from a scene which takes place about 18 minutes into the second episode of season 2. The writers have signed a deal to write as many as NINE books in the series, so hopefully the show will continue for many years to come.

What you're about to witness is our first ever 25 year old Macallan sighting. It takes place about 20 minutes into the 2012 film "Arbitrage" when Robert Miller (Richard Gere) pours himself a late-night dram to unwind after a stressful day at the office. Lots more Macallan appearances to come throughout the month of February.

This 2005 sequel to "Get Shorty" finds loan shark turned movie producer Chili Palmer (John Travolta) branching out into the music industry.
The Macallan bottle appears so briefly in this scene (which begins at the 14:24 mark) that I had to pause the blu-ray to make certain it actually WAS the famous Speysider bottle on the table.
John Travolta Drinks McCleary's Scotch in "Pulp Fiction"
As per the rules of this site we typically wouldn't post a scotch sighting unless someone is actually drinking the scotch in question. It would be a waste of everyone's time if, for example, we posted a clip of a bottle in a bar over some actor's shoulder. However considering the fact that Edie (Uma Thurman) is clearly sipping a brown liquor consistent with the color of Macallan, we'll let it slide and bend the rules just this once. You'll see why when you watch the video.
I think Aerosmith fans might enjoy this scene as well...

Well that only took nine years. I can officially say that I have seen every episode of "Arrested Development" and there IS a scotch sighting. Well, to be honest it's more of a mention than a sighting, but I'll take it. If you have finished watching the final season then you are probably left dumbfounded and wanting more. I'm seriously considering starting it over again because I have so many questions. Questions like "What happened to Lucille 2?", "What was Barry Zuckerkorn on trial for which involved a highschool?", and most importantly "Her?"
In this scene from the Maeby episode (aka "Senoritis*) we see Maeby order a Macallan 12 at around the 13 minute mark. I would've thought GOB or Lucille 1 would be the Single Malt fan in the family.

If you've never actually watched "The Blair Witch Project" you may be surprised to discover that it actually does look that bad. The clip above is not from a flashback scene or a bit of alternative film formatting used for dramatic effect in a cut scene. The entire film looks like this with the exception of the scenes which are shot in black and white. That being said, I saw "The Blair Witch Project" in the theatre twice back in 1999 and it scared the bejeezus out of be both times.
The Red Label bottle shows up 11 minutes into the film when the documentary crew are in their hotel room getting ready to go search for the Blair Witch. Check out the trailer for the 2016 sequel below. Back to The Macallan sightings on Monday. Promise.

Check out this short clip from the 2007 film "PS I Love You". We were able to spot quite a few bottles (Jameson being the most prominent) at the bar during a memorial service. Can anyone name the bottle to the left of the Laphroaig? Let us know in the comments.

I had to do a bit of shabby editing in order to avoid any spoilers, but ALL FOUR Macallan sightings are now compiled in the video below. This is definitely the first appearance of a 50 year old Macallan on film. The closest we've had in the past was this 25 year old sighting a few months back. Click here and here to check out the previous scotch scenes featuring Daniel Craig in other films. I've also included a few screenshots and some great Skyfall artwork below.
