Here's the top 5 scotch sightings of 2016 in no particular order. Not sure why people liked these clips so much. One of them isn't even a real brand but none the less they're all pretty enjoyable. Hope everyone has a great 2017. Lots more sighings to come.

Sylvester Stallone, Ray Liotta, and a Bottle of J&B
Not much to see here. There is a metric ton of J&B sightings out there and slowly but surely, they will all be posted....eventually. This clip is about as brief as the previous Ray Liotta J&B sighting from Goodfellas. The only other Stallone sighting (so far) is from Get Carter and it barely even counts.

Finally! A New Scotch Sighting From "Ray Donovan"
This might be old news to some of you, as this Red Label sighting is from way back in season 3 but we'll slowly be rolling out all of the scotch appearances from the Showtime series Ray Donovan. This is actually the 5th post from the series. There are definitely shows out there (such as Dexter, Mad Men, and Supernatural) with more scotch sightings, but none feature malts as diverse or rare as the ones we've seen throughout the 4 seasons of Ray Donovan.

THREE Scotch Sightings in the Series Premiere of "Colony"
It's probably more like 2.5 sightings if we're being honest. But there's definitely more to come in the way of scotch from this new series. The first episode of Colony features a great Glenlivet sighting at the 14 minute mark. Then, at the 30 minute mark, Will (Josh Holloway) sips a scotch whose name is never mentioned. Finally, the Glenlivet appears again near the end of the episode.

Suicide Squad's Weird & Wacky Whiskey Sighting
This was a great movie if you like watching people argue while walking down the street for a half hour. It was an even better movie for those who enjoy watching homicidal super-villains sitting in a bar and talking about their kids. And if you like slow motion action movies filmed in extremely low lighting conditions then Suicide Squad is the movie for you. A real must-see! But don't take my word for it.
This sighting is a rather strange one. First of all, it features the amazing American whiskey known as Tin Cup. It is the first known appearance of this deliciously spicy Indiana/Colorado blend, so, needless to say, I was thrilled to spot it about and hour and a half into the movie. The odd thing is that when Deadshot (Will Smith) orders a glass, we see a close-up insert shot of Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) pouring from a bottle of Bushmills. Having said that, this is likely the best scene in the entire film.
The only thing worse that watching something directed by Zack Snyder is watching something directed by a person trying to imitate Zack Snyder. I want to love all these DC superhero franchise films, but they're not making it easy. Perhaps Wonder Woman can literally save the day.

And the Second Scotch Spotted in "Colony" is...
If you weren't hooked on the USA series Colony after episode 1, then you'll likely be a collaborator by episode 2. Any fan of Lost, Fringe, or perhaps even The Walking Dead should thoroughly enjoy this new show starring Josh Holloway and Sarah Wayne Callies. Season 2 starts in 3 days so you still have time to binge!
At the 35 minute mark in episode 2 entitled "A Brave New World" we see Will (Holloway) sipping some Johnnie Walker Black Label before heading out on a call. There's a few more sightings from Colony on the way in the near future. It's nice to see that, even in a dystopian society, people will still appreciate a good dram.

Another Black Label Spotted in "Colony"
This will be the last Colony-related post for a while. Promise. Oh wait....Season 2 starts in less than 48 hours. Ummmmmm This is possibly the last Colony-related post for a while. 3 sightings in 4 days does seem a little excessive.
The clip takes place 29 minutes into episode 7. It's another scene featuring Will & Kate in the back yard with a bottle of Johnnie Walker Black Label. Very similar to our previous post from yesterday. Perhaps this will become a tradition.

The Fourth "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Sighting is the Best One Yet
Over the past 3 years, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been bringing us smoke pretty great scotch sightings. It has also brought us some action packed episodes with no sign of slowing down. Last night's mid season premiere was killer.

Glencallan Spotted in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Hakushu in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
This sighting is from the mid-season finale entitled "The Laws of Inferno Dynamics". It features the very first bottle of Haig to ever appear on this site. We've had 400 sightings so far and the closest we've come is this commercial featuring David Beckham. The scene takes place at the very end of the episode.
Thanks for the tip, Steve Murphy!

A Molotov Cocktail Made With Scotch in "10 Cloverfield Lane"
MAJOR SPOILER ALERT---MAJOR SPOILER ALERT---MAJOR SPOILER ALERT...
What do you get when you cross a Glenlivet with a Lagavulin? Apparently you get a Glenvagulin. Or something like that. If you haven't watched the clip yet and you plan on seeing 10 Cloverfield Lane, then we suggest you wait until after you've seen the movie. The fake scotch sighting takes place during the climax, near the very end..
There is a close-up of the bottle in the opening scene as well. It is somewhat difficult to read but a hi-res still from the Blu-ray reveals the words "Single Malt Scotch" above the name on the label. This is the first appearance of Glenvagulin on this site. The brand was likely conjured up specifically for this film.

THREE Laphroaig Sightings in One Movie
Its always great to see this peaty single malt pop up in a movie or tv show. Its even better when you spot a 25 year. A bottle of 25 year old Laphroaig is as rare on screen as it is on the shelf of your local whisky shop. Thanks to the 2014 film Listen Up Philip for featuring it prominently.

Kevin Costner Consumes Enough 50 Year Old Scotch to Kill an Army
After watching the 2014 film Black or White starring Kevin Costner and Octavia Spencer it is easy to see why the filmmakers chose to use a fake scotch for all of these scenes. Elliot Anderson (Costner) drinks so much 50 year old Glencallan in this film that I literally lost count and unfortunately missed a few sightings. Elliot also has a serious drinking problem and is a terrible drunk. It is safe to say that very few spirit brands would like to see their product dragged through the mud the way Glencallan was in this film.
I started watching this film solely because several people had told me that there was a pile whisky scotch sightings throughout. After about 10 minutes I was so caught up in the story and Costner's performance that I was glued to the screen. Black or White is a drastically underrated movie and I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. I usually agree with Rotten Tomatoes but this is one of those rare instances where I cannot fathom why the movie was given such a low score.

Another Fake Glenlivet for a "Modern Family"
It has taken over 6 months but we've finally found more scotch sightings from ABC's Modern Family. Check out the clip above from season 6 episode 4. This is another shot of what might be the same bottle of GlenKnobbs...or GlenKnolls. This is actually the THIRD appearance of this fake scotch and the name on the bottle is still indecipherable.

Is Oliver Samuel a Person of Interest?
Didn't see this one coming. One of the most popular whisky sightings in the history of SC has been the fake malt known as Oliver Samuel from the show Blue Bloods. The bottle and label looks completely different in the clip above but the font is the same. This bottle of Oliver Samuel appeared in season 1 episode 8 of Person of Interest.

Macallan is the Second Scotch to Appear in "Daredevil"
Here's a quick clip from season 2 episode 5. This scene takes place about halfway through the episode and features the Macallan 12 prominently. It has been over a year and a half since we posted the previous scotch sighting from Daredevil. Hopefully we won't have to wait that long for the next single malt to show up on the fantastic Netflix series.

Sneaky Pete Sipping Some Pappy Van Winkle From a Paper Cup
Tweet
Well it's about goddamn time Giovanni Ribisi got his own show. The first season of the new Amazon series "Sneaky Pete" kicked off with a bang and left us all wanting more. And let's not forget the fact that the villain is played by Bryan Cranston. It is great to see Heisenberg himself back on the small screen.
